Mythology 2: Norse (the 12 main gods part 2)

Loki, God of Trickery and Mischief

Loki is a god in Norse mythology . He is a god of trickery and mischief and of fire, and is also linked to magic and can take any form of his wishes. He is not a member of the Aesir , although he lives with them. He is often considered a symbol of evil , treacherous, and untrustworthy; and although his antics often cause short-term problems for the gods, they often benefit in the end from Loki's mischief. He is among the most complex figures in Norse mythology.

Baldur, God of Light and Radiance

Balder or Baldur ( Old Norse : Balðr ), also cited as Baeldaeg (b. 243) in some historical sources,  is a deity in Norse mythology . He is related to justice and wisdom, and all the gods praise him for his beauty. According to some sources, this god would be the son of Odin and Frigga , according to others he would be just a "protected" of them. He was, in any case, a deity of justice and wisdom , and although he did not belong to the nucleus of the superior gods, the Aesir , he was allowed to remain in Asgard .

Hod, God of Winter and Darkness

Höðr ( Old Norse : Hǫðr [  Latin Hotherus ;  often anglicized as Hod , Hoder , or Hodur ) is a god in Norse mythology . The blind son of Odin , he is tricked and guided by Loki into shooting a mistletoe arrow which was to slay the otherwise invulnerable Baldr .

Heimdall, God of Foresight

In  Norse mythology , Heimdall (from Old Norse Heimdallr ; modern Icelandic Heimdallur ) is a god . He is the son of Odin and nine mothers. Heimdall keeps watch for invaders and the onset of Ragnarök from his dwelling Himinbjörg , where the burning rainbow bridge Bifröst meets the sky. He is attested as possessing foreknowledge and keen senses, particularly eyesight and hearing. The god and his possessions are described in enigmatic manners. For example, Heimdall is golden-toothed, "the head is called his sword," and he is "the whitest of the gods."

Heimdall possesses the resounding horn Gjallarhorn and the golden-maned horse Gulltoppr , along with a store of mead at his dwelling. He is the son of Nine Mothers , and he is said to be the originator of social classes among humanity
